gabriel yacoub always felt a strong curiosity for customs, rites and superstitions of all nature

with malicorne, he pursued a research on traditional country songs, this naturally drove him towards the magic aspect of this culture

outside his personal musical research, gabriel is fascinated by legends, myths and ancients beliefs, he collects tales, testimonies, as well as objects linked to this domain

for many years, gabriel had been spending some of his time in the old province of le berry
he found there the repertoire of music and tradition that had been his main source of inspiration since then

most of the objects that can be found in gabriel's boxes come from there

the french "surréaliste" art movement used to "can", or close in a box, simple objects of the everyday life

gabriel yacoub's boxes are filled with either leftovers, and neglected little things, or with elements that primitive, or modern culture ritualized and made sacred by men's passion, fears, or pure imagination
objects have strong values for generating superstition and materialize their natural quest for symbols
